What happened to SwapX Pro?

The app is gone. The service is not.

If you searched "what happened to SwapX Pro" expecting to find that the whole thing closed, that is not what happened — but it is closer than it used to be, so here is the plain version.

The app is no longer distributed anywhere. The Android version came off Google Play first. The iOS version has since been removed from the App Store as well. There is no official build of SwapX Pro you can install today, and there will not be another one.

What never changed is the part that does the work. The app was a window onto our servers: you picked two pictures, they were rendered here, the result came back. Those servers are running exactly as before. The window is now a web page instead of an app.

So where is it now?

The browser version is the same face swap, from the same people, at the same address you already trust. It opens in Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox on any phone or computer — nothing to install, no account to create.

It does more than the app did on most devices, not less: photo and video swapping on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac alike. The app only ever ran on one of those.

If your installed app stopped working

There is no fix, and it is worth saying that directly rather than sending you round in circles. Each swap was rendered on our side, so a build that can no longer reach a supported endpoint cannot be repaired from your end, and no update is coming to the store it came from.

Delete it and open the browser version instead. Everything it did, it does.

What about money I spent?

This is the part people most want a straight answer on.

Bought on iPhone or iPad: that payment went to Apple, not to us. Apple holds the money and the record of it, and refunds for App Store purchases are handled entirely by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot process it for you, and we would be lying if we said otherwise.

Bought through the Google Play listing while it was live: same situation with Google. Their support handles those transactions, because Google was the merchant for them.

Bought inside an APK from a mirror site: that money never reached us or any store. There is no record of it on our side and nobody to request it from. This is the reason we have always told people not to install those builds.

Why the browser version will not go the same way

It is a fair thing to ask, and the honest answer is not a promise about our intentions. It is about who holds the switch.

An app lives at the pleasure of a store. Apple and Google decide what stays listed, what gets an update approved, and what disappears, and they do not have to explain themselves to the people who bought it. That is what happened here, and nothing we could have written in a changelog would have changed it.

A website has no such gatekeeper. Nobody can remove swapxapp.com from your phone, pull it overnight, or refuse the next version of it. You reach it the same way next year as today, with nothing installed that can be taken away.

The rest is ordinary and checkable: the same face swap, the same people, no subscription, and credits that do not expire. If we ever stopped, you would not lose an app you had paid to install — you would simply stop visiting a page.

Beware of what fills the gap

When an app becomes hard to find, sites appear offering it. Files claiming to be "SwapX Pro APK", "SwapX Pro Mod APK" and "SwapX Pro for PC" have spread, and now that no official build exists anywhere, every single one of them is somebody else's. None are ours.

We would rather tell you plainly that there is no app to install than let you run something dangerous with our name on it. The longer explanation is on the APK page.
